MIKA BRZEZINSKI makes a stand for journalism

It is about time a journalist actually stood up against the skewed balance of fame in favour of real issues . Mika Brzezinski refused to lead on the story of Paris Hilton and in turn came in for repeated criticism from her colleagues who actually look rather villainous and vacuous.

Her colleagues also seem to be in denial about the impact of her actions particularly in the digital age. It's an inspiring act of integrity.

nice. However I thought her collegues were egging her on to help make the point. They were kinda being funny about the Paris lead, therefor I thought they too were in on the stance against "bullshit" journalism.

The reason I don't believe that is it begins with personal attacks calling her a "cop out" and then she's told to "take control of [her] life". Then when they suggest moving onto the next story, it's quickly reversed (ie. the producer is whispering in their ears to go back to Paris Hilton story)-it just goes downhill from there

I tend to agree with Veronica that the colleagues were playing along. As for the producer, who knows? The whole thing has probably made for good publicity for this news show...

Oh yes, any publicity is good publicity (unless you're a politician)
